A walk-in holds a bigger volume and drifts slowly, so a degree or two of temperature creep can sit unnoticed for a day before anyone checks a log. A reach-in gets opened constantly through a shift, so door seals and short-cycling show up first. A beer cooler runs close to continuous behind a glass door, so condensation and fan wear are usually the tell.

A walk-in cooler or a reach-in that goes down over a weekend is a full load of inventory at risk, not an inconvenience. The office is open Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and emergency service is answered 24 hours a day, which is exactly why that number is printed on the trucks.
